My Favorite Salad is Wine Socks
I recently came across a pamphlet for a tour of Long Island’s wine country. According to the map, there are a total of 35 vineyards on the North Fork alone, starting with one in Baiting Hollow and heading east. Who needs Napa Valley? Imagine: you are in a limo, gazing out the window at the acres of vineyards, listening to soft music, sipping Chardonnays and Merlots—all in your My Favorite Salad is Wine Socks!
We all have our favorite wine but I think wearing My Favorite Salad is Wine Socks would give me the spark to experiment, to try a wine I can’t pronounce for a change. What is it that automatically draws us to white or red, sweet or dry? And why do I end up with a headache after a glass? I’m told a glass of water will help; I have to remember to try that.
There is absolutely a personal, emotional connection with a glass of wine and My Favorite Salad is Wine Socks gives me the inspiration to dwell on this. The type I choose is somehow symbolic of me. If I were to describe myself as a wine, I’d have to say: Italian, a delicate white that sparkles in the sun, full-bodied (unfortunately), refreshing, not too sweet and definitely fruity… but in a nice way. Let’s hope I improve with age. The name on the label would be, Eternally Grateful.
Note: “My favorite Salad is Wine” appears on only the right-hand side of both socks.
